Micheal Vick is officially back in the NFL. I wasn't quite sure he would play because I figured Phili. would lose a huge fan base if he did. To my surprise as well as many others, Micheal Vick did play. He went 4 for 4 for 19 yards against the Jaguars and in addition to his snaps at QB, he lined up at receiver. I figured they'd use him at other spots than QB because, let's face it, what do you do in prison? Workout and bulk up. The thing you cannot do in prison however, is practice throwing a football three quarters of a football field. So, of course, he's probably a little rusty in that department. He's still fast and he still puts fans in the stands. I can't blame the Eagles for picking him up. A football player is a football player.

The Phillie Embarrass The Reds

The Phillies pummeled the Reds today with an outstanding first inning behind the bats of Shane Victorino, Greg Dobbs, and Chase Utley. The three hit homeruns in the first inning to help the Phillies build up a 10-0 lead. Starter Cole Hamels, who's been 5-5 this season, had it pretty easy from that point on. The only run scored on Hamels was off the bat of Johnny Gomes who homered to right field in the second inning. The Phillies went on to score another four runs in the fourth inning and another six in the eighth. Counting the run they scored in the third inning, the Phillie walk away with an easy win with a score of 22-1. That puts the Phillies on a four game win streak as they hold their first place slot with the Marlins a game and a half behind.

Rest In Pease Air Mcnair

On Saturday, former Titans quarterback Steve Mcnair was found dead in his condo with multiple gunshot wounds, one to the head. A woman was also found dead a few feet from Ncnair, next to the woman police found a pistol. The woman has been identified as Sahel Kazemi. she was apparently a friend of Mcnairs.

Thirty-six year old Mcnair played a total of thirteen years in the NFL and recorded 174 Touchdowns, over thirty-one thousand yards and a passer rating of 82.8. He was also a three time probowler. Truly great numbers for a truly great player.

Derrick Mason, a receiver that played with Mcnair for the Ravens had this to say of Mcnair. "On the field, there isn't [a] player that was as tough as him, especially at the quarterback position."

Mcnair who accounted for all of the Titans yards on the last drive of the 2000 Superbowl, including fourty-eight pass yards and fourteen rushing yards, will truly be missed. Over the course of those three years, Artest's contract is worth an estimated $18 million. He joins Pau Gasol and the ever popular Kobe Bryant in hopes of winning in the Finals. The Lakers will lose Trevor Ariza so picking up Artest was what was in their best interest at this point. Ariza has been talking with the Rockets however, so it seems the two may simply switch teams. Funny how Free-Agency works out.

Latest Free Agent Talk In The NBA

The latest free agent talks are surprising indeed. The Pistons have reportedly been speaking with Charlie Vilanueva and Hedo Turkoglu, both huge parts of their previous teams. Not to mention the Bulls thre point guy, Ben Gordon. Hedo and Gordon can rain down threes and Vilanueva has a great inside game. The three would be huge assets to the Pistons who are losing Sheed Wallace. Wallace, who gained hi free agency after a good run with the Pistons, has been talking to the Celtics, who would be a completely dominant force with Garnet, Pierce abd Wallace together, not to mention their up and coming star Rondo.

The Magic are looking pretty hurt after losing Hedo, but not for long. The Magic have made a financial commitment to Vince Carter. The long time all-star would be a huge addition to the Magic's all ready high powered team. However, the Magic lose Courtney Lee, Rafer Alston, and Tony Battie.

Carlos Boozer on the other hand has refused to become a free agent along with Okur and Korver. All three played huge roles in the Jazz's success this past year.

Hanley Ramierez

Hanley Ramirez previously set a team record for most consecutive games with an RBI. Now he's done something even greater than that, he's set a record by being the first National League shortstop to have an RBI in ten consecutive games. That's right, since the year of 1920 when RBIs were first recorded, here in 2009 Hanley Ramirez has set an amazing record. just something new to add to his collection of accolades.
On top of that, Hanley is probably going to have his second straight start in the all-star game this year. With numbers like his can you blame fans for voting for him? He's batting .348 with 13 home runs, 58 RBIs, and 12 stolen bases. This guy is truly an all-star, and I don't say that because I live in Florida and love watching him play. I say that because the numbers prove it. Day in and day out this guy shows that he was what it takes to end up as a Hall-of-Famer. Go Hanley!!!!

Donte Stallworth

The Cleavland Browns receiver was charged with a DUI manslaughter. He plead guilty in court and is now to serve a 30 day ail sentence. Not only will he be doing jail time, however, he's also been suspended from the NFL..... indefinitely. Interesting news surfaced recently in which Stallworth tested positive for marijuana. So now, even if the receiver was to be allowed back into the NFL, he'd have to face a strict punishment due to the NFL's substance abuse policy. My question is, what's happening to all of these football players? Vick turned out to be a monster, Stallworth has killed a man(accidentally), players are getting shot at and killed in the streets. WHat is the NFL coming to? Hopefully not just another roided up criminal case.

What is to become of the Browns? Braylon Edwards is no slouch but losing Stallworth will definitely hurt the team as far as their receiving goes. We'll see how the upcoming 2009-2010 season goes.

Ultimate Sport Source

Well, for my first post I'd just like to introduce myself.
